The Room Assignment
- Project Part 2 Checkpoint 2 (12/5/22)
- I have completed the process of modeling out my 5 new objects to fit into my scene. They have been UV'd out and ready to go into painter. I just need to set ID's to them and then texture them into painter and I should be good to go for Unity. I am feeling pretty close to completing this project and I feel good about it with what I have so far. Below is an image of my 5 new models I have decided to chose from the previous nine I was thinking about last checkpoint.
- I decided to go with the simpler ones but at the same time, still make sense with my scene. I also mentioned that I fully UV'd them out to the best of my ability. The model that I felt was a little difficult to UV was the trashcan since I got some weird triangles associated with it and it did not look pretty. The Ottoman was also a little difficult but I managed to make UV's for each of the legs and supports. So I made a few cuts and unfolded it many times till those harsh triangles got away.
- Project Part 2 Checkpoint 1 (11/28/22)
- I am currently on the modeling stage of my new props. I was able to find myself nine new objects to model from to add into my scene that would fit quite nicely with the scene I have going on, which is a children's bedroom. Below is an image of the props I will be referencing from for my new props.
- So the props I am aiming to add are a little trashcan, children's toy pyramid, an ottoman, a block calendar, a mounted flat screen television, a wall clock, a book/diary, a wooden toy plane, and a pair of glasses. I found that these props seem fairly simple to model and for me to be able to tackle it well. Also to mention these props go seemingly well with my children's room scene.
- What I have planned for this week is to fully have the props modeled out and UV'd so I can begin the process of putting the room all together into Unity. My previous props were able to texture out successfully into painter and I just need to move it over into Unity so there are no errors.
- I am currently in a good position, but just need to pick up the pace a little bit since it did take me a while to find the new props. Also I need to make sure the walls have different textures on them because I did put it as one texture as a whole. I do have every object in the scene duplicated and for the most part combined on a few objects. All the history is deleted, transformations frozen and the pivot is set to y=0.

- Checkpoint 4 (11/9/2022)
- I am currently on the UV stage of the assignment and have textured a few models into Painter. I have gotten to make a full layout for a couple of my UV groups, but I am still adding a few changes to the remaining groups before I do a full layout. But, I am pretty much almost finished. Below is one of my UV layouts for UV 2:
- I feel pretty confident in my UV layout, I may revise it once again and make the appropriate cuts, but there is no major stretching for the most part which is a good thing. I will then need to make the models their own ID's and low's so I can bring them over to Painter. My vision is to have all of the UV layouts with no stretching at all so it can smoothly transfer to Painter.
- I am pretty happy with how my chair and bed turned out to be. One issue I had with the bed was that the NCloth blanket wasn't properly sticking onto the bed but I was able to stick it on well by adjusting the distance of the blanket from the bed. The chair had a bit of stretching but I added a few multi-cuts to combat that.
- I was able to successfully texture out the two posters that I had in mind, and I really loved how they turned out to be. I loved how I can make the poster look glossier in a way with a simple setting that can be adjusted. For the most part, I am pretty close to transferring my other UV groups into Painter.

- Checkpoint 3 (11/2/2022)
- I am finishing up my modeling section and have some UV's down (not in a full layout form because I am still doing some UV work. Below is an image of my current layout:
- So I still have some work to do, but I feel that I am making good progress and getting there! I seem to have knocked off most of the harder models and am working toward the easier ones with their UV shells. My vision for the next scene would be fully having textures on them on painter and ready to go. A challenge I definitely faced was trying to bevel the correct corners since my beveling on the door for the armoire was very wonky. I had to refresh Maya a few times but decided to bevel only a part of it since it had errors. Below are a few renders I have of the amoire so far:

- I managed to get the parts and pieces to function in the object and was able to open the drawers and doors successfully while having them at a good size. I am very proud with what I have so far, but I must keep pushing and not fall behind. I will definitely get to finish the UV'ing and have everything color coded so it's ready to go and start on the Painter side of things.

- Checkpoint 2 (10/26/2022)
Here is the reference image I am still continuing to refer to for the Room Assignment:
Children's Bedroom |
- For this week I was primarily searching for a good silhouette that I liked to fit into my scene. I managed to find a reference and begun to work on the curves. I got done with a few walls and modeled a pillow that would fit for the bed of the room. My vision of the scene currently is try to not to think of any modeling that will be too extreme and work from the bottom up but as minimal but still very fancy looking. I am enjoying the references I chose and will continue to use them for the scene. Below are my two renders of what I have done so far and completed:

- I was able to model through the wall with the window successfully since it was the most difficult out of all the walls. A challenge definitely for me was the use of the multi-cut tool to try to avoid N-Gons in the model. The harder piece to get rid of N-Gons was the crown molding for the bottom half of the wall and just trying to fill in the holes/bridge it up. I was able to fully patch of the hole on the side of that crown molding.
- What I will definitely be working on for the next week is to hustle and continue to model the rest of the wall, armoire, and try my best to go through most of the room models all UV'd out. I will try my best to get started on the painter side of things so the models will have some sort of texture on them.

- Checkpoint 1 (10/19/2022)
Here is the reference image I am referring to for the Room Assignment:
Children's Bedroom |
- I am currently in the Blockout stage of the assignment and just mainly figuring out if everything in the room fits nicely in the scene and checking if there's more space available to add in a few objects. My vision of the scene is a basic children's bedroom that is not too distracting and very formal. One major challenge was just simply trying to find the perfect room for this assignment and I think I have scored a jackpot finding this room as a reference. I will begin the modeling and UV process for the next week and be able to gain a sense of the objects in the scene and which objects would be the most complicated to work on.
Below are the two Arnold Renders for my Blockout:

- I was able to fit everything and I was able to vision the objects in my scene very nicely and have a sense of where they would be exactly. I was also able to make the room space a little larger so the objects aren't too clamped up with each other. I am currently working in meters and was able to refer to this image below of a basic standard room size
- I calculated the feet to meters and then size my room properly to my liking so the objects can fit nicely together in the scene. I do have some space available in my bedroom scene so I will find an object that will fit the style of the room, but isn't complicated.
